Le Comptoir Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
One of the top vegetarian tasting menus in the US
This was an absolutely exquisite intimate dinner prepared with such care and attention to detail by Chef Gary Menes, with committed assistance from Alec and Carlos. Being able to watch every course being prepared in such an intimate setting and then having the opportunity to chat with Chef Gary after the eight course meal felt like a privilege indeed. Yes, the restaurant is tiny (maximum of ten people at the counter) and no frills. My husband and I were two of eight diners on a recent Saturday evening. We didn’t do the wine pairings or any of the optional extras, because the cost was already a bit rich for our budget. One of my favorite courses was one of the simplest - sweet corn veloute, made with silver queen corn “preserved” from the summer, Greek yogurt, and a sour dough crouton. It had a velvety texture with an ethereal fragrance and subtle flavor. Every course was similarly structured to bring out the very best of the vegetables, fruits, and grains that Chef Gary uses and combines with such deliberation and care. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. I’d say that if you’re in LA on one of the three nights a week it is open, you need to try and get yourself a booking a month in advance. It is worth every hard earned dollar to dine here.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
