Libertine North End Boston Reviews from The Last Year
TIM is one of the best bartenders I've ever had.
I was going to stop drinking tequila but when i ordered a margarita it was AMAZING
Bad food and bad service?! How are they staying in business?
I’ve eaten at a dozen or so north end restaurants and this was by far the worst food I’ve had. No flavor, nothing unique on the menu, too expensive, and the waiter was rude. Maybe they were just having a bad day, but he snapped at us a couple times for no reason. Then we were asked by two different waiters to leave at about an hour and fifteen minutes so they could get the next reservation in… for dinner in the North End this seems very unreasonable? Take it from a local, with so many fabulous options around you should take your money and go somewhere where the servers will treat you how you deserve!! And with actual good food haha. Wish I had just cooked for my friends at home, I could’ve done better than this with the frozen food section at Trader Joe’s.
Food was fabulous! Absolutely loved the lobster carbonara!
Food was fabulous! Absolutely loved the lobster carbonara! Lobster was cooked to perfection and the homemade pasta was delicious. Would go back and eat this again and again! My friend is Gluten Free and Dairy Free, and the chef came out to speak with her personally to help decipher what would be best. They decided on seared scallops and a vegan risotto prepared especially for her. She loved it. Just to note: all the pasta here is GF. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to help! GF bread options as well. I had the tiramisu as well which they comp'd because it was the last piece and wasn't the normal full-size. It was also amazing. Ambience was loud and tables were close together. Dressy or casual attire is fine here. Highly recommend for the food, and go at an off time if you want a quieter experience.
Great food! The service was amazing, and while we were
Great food! The service was amazing, and while we were there an Italian singer even stopped in. I'd definitely recommend it for good italian food on the north end!
Second visit in 9 months and just as good as the first
Second visit in 9 months and just as good as the first time! Ate inside this time, surprised by an Italian singer who was amazing. Food was outstanding (again) and service fantastic. Caprese and Brussels for apps; bolognese and cheese ravs with meatballs ..... so good! Also the tiramisu is a "don't miss" .... Can't wait to return on our next trip out
Great food and fantastic service! Lobster ravioli,
Great food and fantastic service! Lobster ravioli, chorizo, chicken parm and lobster carbonara were all fantastic.
Came on a Saturday and sat at the bar right away.
About 20 min later it was standing room only. The bartenders were amazing. I had the pistachio martini and my friend had the Portuguese Spritz... both very good! I ordered the gnocchi and she ordered the bolognese- absolutely delicious!
Gluten Free Friendly
Fantastic for gluten free folks - 98% of the menu is gluten free and you wouldn’t even KNOW if you didn’t ask. Pistachio martinis are amazing - 100% recommend the lobster carbonara! Great service too - Thank you Libertine!
Going there specifically for Tim! He is the best bartender
Going there specifically for Tim! He is the best bartender around great vibes and really good food!
Great appetizers!
Looking for good after a Bruins game, we popped in here and were seated in the bar. Our server Lucas was excellent! Very attentive and courteous. We had cheese curds, burrata (which we needed to ask for bread), scallops wrapped in bacon, caprese salad and a chicken, broccoli pasta. We shared everything and it was all delicious and perfect portions. The place was buzzing in a good way. Would definitely go back.
The food and drinks were great.
Carlos was an amazing server! Would absolutely go back and recommend this spot to anyone in the North End. Thank you, Carlos!
98% Gluten Free food.
Everything is yummy from the GF crab cakes, GF meatballs, all of the mains. GF bread. The service is outstanding, the atmosphere is inviting. Come to 125 Salem street ask for Tim & Arlene. You will not regret the time.
Libertine exceeded all expectations! The impeccable service
Libertine exceeded all expectations! The impeccable service made our dining experience truly exceptional. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing our evening. Now, onto the food. The mariscada - a Portuguese culinary masterpiece! Each bite was a burst of flavors. Followed by the lobster ravioli, each bite was light and delicious. This is a five-star gem for those seeking an exquisite blend of top-notch service and delectable dishes.
Fanfreakingtastic!! By far the best GF pasta I've had.
The whole menu (minus the ravioli) can be GF. Chicken parm, meatballs, bolognese, truffle fries- everything. They even had a couple GF beers too. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was fun as well. My wife is not gluten free and enjoyed the gluten side of things as well. I'm so thankful I stumbled upon this gem. We'll definitely be back.
Incredible cocktails and service.
Great to go and catch a game or catch up with friends. Bar manager Tim is the best!
I absolutely LOVE libertine! The atmosphere is great, but
I absolutely LOVE libertine! The atmosphere is great, but the food, drinks, and service go even beyond. I've been here multiple times and can't wait to return again! I highly recommend everyone gives it a try.
Just got back from dinner at Libertine in the North End for
Just got back from dinner at Libertine in the North End for the first time. We passed by earlier in the week and saw that they promote the fact they have a wide variety of gluten free dishes. Only one of us had to go gluten free but not only were they thrilled with their meal, we all had great Italian meals! The service was also exceptional. A fantastic North End restaurant that we'll be back to again. Thanks to Tim, Oscar and the crew in the kitchen for making the experience one of the best we've had in quite some time!

When you walk into a restaurant in the north end and the only smell from the kitchen is a burning grease odor from the fryers, it’s not a good sign. We didn’t want to just walk out, so ordered appetizers. (Clams) which were basically served in a chicken broth. Really? I make steamed clams at home with wine butter and garlic and expected at least that in a North End restaurant. Bread was brought to the table with olive oil / balsamic for dipping. I can’t even say that was good. We left and had dinner at another place. Libertine obviously rides on the overflow of better restaurants that are fully booked. Do yourself a favor and get reservations for a good restaurant and don’t waste your time or money here.
Worth Looking for in the North End
On Salem St. in Boston's North End, one block over from Hanover St., the main tourist street. Worth looking for, for a cold beer or a casual snack. I didn't eat dinner here so I can't comment on that. Comfortable bar with view out large windows to watch the passing parade of people. Limited selection of draft beers when I was there but the calamari appetizer I ordered was the best calamari I have ever had, crisp and tasty, and only slight spicy. Small dining area was crowded when I was there late afternoon. Friendly attentive service at the bar, and as a bonus I got to watch the Red Sox beat the Yankees on their large HDTV.
A Secret Gem
We made dinner reservations at a restaurant across the street. We were told 25 minute wait so we went to Libertine for a martini. Charles made us fantastic drinks and we started talking to Mathew, the manager. About 45 minutes into the 25 minute wait, Mathew brought us some calamari that was awesome! Lightly battered and in a tangy cream sauce. We decided to skip the wait and order dinner as well! Diavalo veal and chicken parm! So good! All in all a great night. This restaurant should be top of mind when visiting the North End!
Re-Visit your EMPLOYEES
I went to Libertine a little over a week ago, I have to say this restaurant has gone down hill. The "Manager", Arlene was so intoxicated, rude and disrespectful towards me, my table and many other customers. She slurring her speak and at on point yelling at my party. I went and asked the young girl if I could speak to the Manager, she proceeds to tell me she left for the evening (Shocked she is even driving). I told she if she was talking about "Arlene" that is the last person I want to talk to and I wanted to speak to the owner and let him know what is happening in his restaurant and how she is bad for his business. Is sad to see a restaurant you have visited with the older owners go south. I wish John all the best.
Nice surprise
We were just roaming around the beautiful area of Salem Street and decided to just pop in for some beverage and appetizers. Ended up sitting up at the bar and had a great time. The drinks were tasty and the food was yummy. Would like to stop in again and try more items off the menu.
