Bad food and bad service?! How are they staying in business?
I’ve eaten at a dozen or so north end restaurants and this was by far the worst food I’ve had. No flavor, nothing unique on the menu, too expensive, and the waiter was rude. Maybe they were just having a bad day, but he snapped at us a couple times for no reason. Then we were asked by two different waiters to leave at about an hour and fifteen minutes so they could get the next reservation in… for dinner in the North End this seems very unreasonable? Take it from a local, with so many fabulous options around you should take your money and go somewhere where the servers will treat you how you deserve!! And with actual good food haha. Wish I had just cooked for my friends at home, I could’ve done better than this with the frozen food section at Trader Joe’s.

Fantastic for gluten free folks - 98% of the menu is gluten free and you wouldn’t even KNOW if you didn’t ask. Pistachio martinis are amazing - 100% recommend the lobster carbonara! Great service too - Thank you Libertine!

Looking for good after a Bruins game, we popped in here and were seated in the bar. Our server Lucas was excellent! Very attentive and courteous. We had cheese curds, burrata (which we needed to ask for bread), scallops wrapped in bacon, caprese salad and a chicken, broccoli pasta. We shared everything and it was all delicious and perfect portions. The place was buzzing in a good way. Would definitely go back.

When you walk into a restaurant in the north end and the only smell from the kitchen is a burning grease odor from the fryers, it’s not a good sign. We didn’t want to just walk out, so ordered appetizers. (Clams) which were basically served in a chicken broth. Really? I make steamed clams at home with wine butter and garlic and expected at least that in a North End restaurant. Bread was brought to the table with olive oil / balsamic for dipping. I can’t even say that was good. We left and had dinner at another place. Libertine obviously rides on the overflow of better restaurants that are fully booked. Do yourself a favor and get reservations for a good restaurant and don’t waste your time or money here.

On Salem St. in Boston's North End, one block over from Hanover St., the main tourist street. Worth looking for, for a cold beer or a casual snack. I didn't eat dinner here so I can't comment on that. Comfortable bar with view out large windows to watch the passing parade of people. Limited selection of draft beers when I was there but the calamari appetizer I ordered was the best calamari I have ever had, crisp and tasty, and only slight spicy. Small dining area was crowded when I was there late afternoon. Friendly attentive service at the bar, and as a bonus I got to watch the Red Sox beat the Yankees on their large HDTV.

We made dinner reservations at a restaurant across the street. We were told 25 minute wait so we went to Libertine for a martini. Charles made us fantastic drinks and we started talking to Mathew, the manager. About 45 minutes into the 25 minute wait, Mathew brought us some calamari that was awesome! Lightly battered and in a tangy cream sauce. We decided to skip the wait and order dinner as well! Diavalo veal and chicken parm! So good! All in all a great night. This restaurant should be top of mind when visiting the North End!

I went to Libertine a little over a week ago, I have to say this restaurant has gone down hill. The "Manager", Arlene was so intoxicated, rude and disrespectful towards me, my table and many other customers. She slurring her speak and at on point yelling at my party. I went and asked the young girl if I could speak to the Manager, she proceeds to tell me she left for the evening (Shocked she is even driving). I told she if she was talking about "Arlene" that is the last person I want to talk to and I wanted to speak to the owner and let him know what is happening in his restaurant and how she is bad for his business. Is sad to see a restaurant you have visited with the older owners go south. I wish John all the best.

We were just roaming around the beautiful area of Salem Street and decided to just pop in for some beverage and appetizers. Ended up sitting up at the bar and had a great time. The drinks were tasty and the food was yummy. Would like to stop in again and try more items off the menu.

I had a mushroom pasta. I forget the name. Some of the best pasta I’ve ever had! I cannot wait to come back. Service was A+++ as well

Food was excellent, i had bolognese and red chianti wine. The food took slightly longer than expected but was worth it. We also had limoncello as well which is great.

Everything was great about our visit. We were celebrating a special Occassion and they were more than accommodating. There is no kid’s menu, but they offered several options they could do. Our kids split the Bolognese, I had the Cuban, and the other two had the chicken parmigiana. All great. I wanted to leave a review since it seems they’re a little left out.
