My Thai Maui Kahului Reviews from The Last Year
Great food! If it's your first time be patient.
You will not be disappointed. Food has a lot of flavor and can choose your spice level. A lot to choose from and will be back for more. Mahalo! Love the 80s posters
Great food, everything we got was really tasty.
I recommend the Khao Soi, the whole fish appetizer, pineapple fried rice, and baos (we had the orange chicken). It's no joke when they say the spicy mac isn't for the faint of heart. I would steer clear. Other than the food, the place and staff are pure entertainment. The entrance, the waiter's explanations, and the menu descriptions are hilarious. Highly recommended restaurant.
Excellent food and a fun, upbeat atmosphere.
Definitely come check it out- dine in or take out. Some of the best Thai food I've had
Best Thai food I've had on Maui! Very quick contact-less
Best Thai food I've had on Maui! Very quick contact-less service. A little pricey but worth it - good portions and amazing flavors. Also love the movie / music posters, games, and Yoda greeter - I wasn't sure if the bell worked my first time but now I have faith in the process :)
Amazing food, interesting decor, super friendly staff.
unusual dining experience in a good good good way
Wonderful Thai food! I just ate the best mango sticky rice
Wonderful Thai food! I just ate the best mango sticky rice ever! A very friendly family runs this place. This is my new favorite restaurant on Maui!
Good food and fast, eager to please service.
Covered open air seating. Only accepts QR code and online ordering even for onsite dining.
The cuisine here is undeniably delightful, boasting rich
The cuisine here is undeniably delightful, boasting rich flavors and tantalizing aromas that surpass its visual appeal. Among the dishes I've sampled are the drunken noodles, mango with sticky rice, and pineapple fried rice. The drunken noodles were a standout, although I felt somewhat shortchanged on the vegetable portion despite paying extra for them. This assessment is based on comparisons between two separate orders--one with additional veggies and one without. I found the presentation of the mango sticky rice disappointing; its appearance didn't quite whet the appetite as one might hope. A quick glance at the visuals would immediately evoke familiar comparisons. While the curry rice was delicious, there seemed to be an excess of rice, slightly overshadowing the other components. One aspect that left me perplexed was the inability to place takeout orders in person; instead, it's exclusively done online. This policy struck me as somewhat impractical, requiring patrons to navigate online platforms even when they're physically present and prepared to order.
Decent Thai food in Maui but they have to work on freshness
Decent Thai food in Maui but they have to work on freshness of seafood. I know many restaurant use frozen ingredients but there is high quality frozen items versus not. The calamari rings in our seafood noodle dish was not edible and I had to spit out and left all in the plate. Mussels weren't flavorful. Also, I get it that restaurant is near airport but folks dining in do not want to eat with a flimsy plastic fork in togo containers. They also have QR code ordering and I saw 2 couples get seated who then immediately left due to self help setup. I still gave this place 4 stars (3.75 rounded up) because the flavor was good and the lobster buns were decent and the owner seemed very nice. As long as you guys are OK with self-help QR codes, inconsistent freshness, and eating out of to go containers, you may be happy with this place.

Tasty, fast, and FUN! Come here all the time for the yumminess and ambiance. Best Thai on the island!
Best Thai food!
Interesting concept, the owner is a funny guy. You order online via a QR code and also pay online. There are a few comfortable seats in a kind of garage. This was definitely the best Thai food we have ever tried anywhere, especially the Pad Thai with shrimp, the fried rice with chicken, pork and beef was also delicious. It's a shame that we only discovered the restaurant on our last evening before departure. It's perfectly located near the airport, by the way.
Delicious and quirky in a great way!
Delicious food! Thoroughly enjoyed this fun and quirky place. Appreciated the free dessert as well as the Trivial Pursuit cards :) Thanks for the great food and service. Highly recommended.
Passive Aggressive Mahalo
First off, the food is excellent. We had curry dishes and a pad Thai, and it was all top quality. With that out of the way, this place is bizarre. I felt like I was being punked with passive aggressive mahalo. Upon arrival, the owner makes clear that this is a carry-out style establishment. Customers are told to order through QR codes and pay for their food on their phones. We were prompted to tip before service, but we didn’t see the point in tipping a nonexistent waitstaff. We planned to leave cash if we interacted with anyone or received any kind of service. I highly recommend that you hold back your tip, because this is when the show begins. The owner wants you to know this is a family establishment, and that his wife is in the back toiling over your food. I could use this guy in my kitchen to guilt my children into sweeping the floors after dinner. He’s a master in making people uncomfortable. If he were a larger man, I would have assumed he had a long career in pro-wrestling. He is performing for our tip, being overly courteous, remembering our first names like a sideshow magician, and while we are mildly entertained, we are mainly guilted into leaving him a cash tip, even though this is a no-service restaurant. And when we hand him some cash (because it’s windy in his garage-like wind-tunnel of a dining area, we cross the line into Andy Kaufman territory. He refused our cash (it was around 15% - for no service). He told us our $13 would not mean anything to him and to just pay it forward. We were so confused. Again, the food here is EXCELLENT. If you’re looking for an experience to remember sprinkled with some yoda and a side of Beastie Boys, this is the place for you. If you want to eat in a restaurant that values the traditional rules of restaurant service, you might want to find another spot.
Great food, unique experience, take out
Unique experience that is close to the airport! Owner was awesome and tried to make visit personable. Food was great! We are visiting again
Authentic Thai
Food was amazing, authentic and wonderful service, reasonable prices. The staff was personable and very welcoming to all that entered.
Perfect storm of misadventure.
I'm not going to review the food, because we didn't get that far. We had just finished our six hour suspension above the Pacific - if we had been feeling jaunty, this might have been a different experience. This eatery is for the young, the hip, the trendy, the Not-Olds. We followed the instructions issued by Yoda, and a young man emerged, complimented us on our reading skills, then told us two stories of hapless tourists who committed egregious etiquette errors when trying to dine. Immediately I know that if I'm not exemplary, I will be the next story. He explained that this is "take-out style" (OK so far). We pull out our phones to scan the tabletop QR code (we're not THAT old). I don't have a Toast account, so that process must begin before we can order, so then I prepare to pull out my credit card. Entree and drink, my total is $35. [This is Maui - I'm stunned, but not shocked.] Then comes the tip. The pre-tip. I look around; people are clearly jumping up to get their own food. This is owner-operated, and I like to support a small business, but when an owner is offering no-service, shouldn't they expect a no-tip? I thought that was built into their profit margin. [Self-assessment: I'm a 20%+ tipper for mediocre service. I like to feel like a big spender.] So now my bill is over $42, no dessert, no service, the threat of humiliation in perpetuity hanging over my head. And the two of us are now struggling to enter our credit card information. We're cranky. We're hangry, We're airline-fatigued. And, we're old. We just got off a Southwest aircraft, and we're longing to be pampered. This is when one of us - who can remember who? - suggested we bail on this endeavor. We drove a block away to Tiki Tiki Thai, where we uttered a soft Thai-sigh of relief. Full, friendly, attentive service, delicious food, china plates, someone else dealt with our credit card information, and our meal was less expensive. When I asked for a to-go box, the server actually transferred my food to it. When is the last time that was done for you? Well, unless that's how it arrived in the first place. In this case of real service, 30% gratuity felt natural. Look, enjoy your experience and love your meal. If you're feeling adventurous, go for it. It was not our cup of Thai iced tea.
Good Thai near airport
Very good food, nice gregarious host. Done take out but open air area to sit and eat if you prefer .Excellent authentic desserts. Close to airport for those just landed.
Stellar Food. Stunning Decor. Friendly Service.
My Thai in Maui is a legit hidden gem where Thai grub meets quirky island vibes. Walking in, you're hit with a life-size Yoda holding a lightsaber – yeah, you read that right – setting the tone for a fun, offbeat meal. The Pad Thai here? Killer. It's got that perfect mix of tangy and savory, and they nail it every time. The green curry is spicy, creamy, and brimming with flavor, but the star of the show has to be mom’s spicy sausage. Laden with home-grown Thai chilis that will absolutely melt your face off, each bite is a delicious challenge with amazing flavor that keeps you coming back for more. What's cool is you can bring your own booze, which is pretty sweet for matching with those spicy Thai dishes. The vibe is super welcoming, thanks to it being a family-run spot. It feels more like you're hanging out at a friend's place, especially with the wild, eclectic decor that's all part of the charm. Ending the meal, they served us this complimentary dessert, Kanom Tom, which the owner explained the meaning behind in great detail – such a delightful treat, complete with a tiny Thai flag as a finishing touch. My Thai isn’t just about great food; it’s about a whole vibe that makes every visit memorable.
Not deserving of its high rating
My wife ordered the garlic noodle orange chicken. The chicken was dry, tough, and tasteless. We returned the chicken to the kitchen. The manager made a big show of throwing the chicken into the garbage and promised to refund us the charge for my wife’s meal, even though we only asked for a refund for the chicken. As of this writing, he has not done so, despite making a big deal about receiving poor ratings. He did bring us complementary kanom thom, which was okay, even though I personally do not care for coconut. I had drunken noodles and asked for mild spice. It was good, but milder than any other mild Thai food that I have had. I have had much better Thai food, even in from food courts. We were very disappointed, as this was our last night in Maui and this restaurant had such good reviews, undeserved. We would not recommend this place. Our review would be much different had the manager followed through with his promise.
Fantastic Thai Food in Maui
Such a fantastic find. Loved the fun atmosphere and delicious food. The owners are so friendly and very welcoming. I can't wait to go back.
