😒 3/5 - Pleasant with a few service niggles

Firstly (and my major gripe) - we arrived 7 minutes late for a 1.30pm reservation, red faced and panting slightly. We were attended to by a lady who informed us that she had our reservation down for 1pm but that it was "not a problem". Now, when someone tells me something is "not a problem" I just shrug and say ok. Because, you know, it's not a problem right? No need to make a big deal out of it? Well, we then proceeded to have one of the most circular conversations of my life "it's not a problem" "ok" "but we have you down for 1pm" "ok, we did book 1.30 though" "here it says 1pm but like I said it's not a problem" As the minutes ticked by and we remained standing awkwardly in the entryway repeating variations of this conversation it began to dawn on me that there may actually, in fact, be a problem. Had to whip out my phone and attempt to retrieve the reservation details utilizing my very spotty data connection. When we did manage to prove that our reservation was for 1.30pm and not 1pm we were given a quick "ok sorry" and then (and only then) shown promptly to our table. Was it a problem? I do not know. But I'll wager you don't keep customers standing in the doorway for five minutes if it's not a problem. Second - the food. It was pleasant. I have nothing bad to say about it but nothing stood out about it. It was executed well, though the flavor combinations were nothing to write home about. It was fine enough for a nice meal out but no need to go out of your way. On the food - we had written in to request no beef or lamb. This was acknowledged but did not appear to have made its way to the kitchen / servers. No issue, they checked before serving and I requested no red meat. We then got served veal. Is veal a red meat? Google seems divided. Regardless, when queried it was explained that veal is considered a white meat and that was it. A tad disappointing, I did not finish this course. Third - drinks. Asked if I could get a drink, was given a veritable folio of wine choices. Asked if they had beers or cocktails, was informed that only one beer is offered (Alouettes by les bières de Belleville if anyone was wondering). It was alright, won't knock your socks off. Kind of wonder how it managed to become sole beer on offer. TLDR: it's fine for a nice meal out but nothing special. Pick it, don't pick it. Your life will remain unchanged. PS don't show up late for your meal.
