Roux Dat Cajun Creole Capitola Reviews from The Last Year
Great casual spot with outdoor seating for a quick dinner!
Great casual spot with outdoor seating for a quick dinner! We got the hush puppies, fried green tomatoes and the large stew option with the shrimp, andouille sausage and chicken jambalaya and the crawfish maque choux. It was my first time trying maque choux and it might be my new favorite Cajun dish!
Food was delivered on time and was absolutely delicious!!
Food was delivered on time and was absolutely delicious!! We had the fried green tomatoes, Jambalaya, hush puppies and one of the kids meals. Everything tasted great. Even my kids (picky eaters) gobbled it up.
Roux Dat is my to go place for some Cajun food.
I usually get the gumbo and the jambalaya that comes with corn bread. I generally see the owner there putting the meals together. Nice guy, nice place. Good location near the Trader Joe's

They were short handed the evening we went, but still managed to crank out delicious food without too long a wait.
The food was THE BOMB.
It's been two weeks since I had the combo chicken okra gumbo and the corn black bean Maque Choux. I am still thinking about that bowl of amazingness. My husband was taken in my a Creole fam as a teen and he barely said a word he was so focused on enjoying his meal. Wish we lived close by!

That was some good jambalaya and gumbo! Got the half and half that came with rice and some bread. Everything was great...I'd even say it was better than a lot of places I tried in New Orleans. The catfish was also nice and golden crispy, and flavorful. My 3 year old loved it also! Great little gem while in the area.

it's there anything i can possibly say that will make you understand just how AWESOME the people are? i was treated with such kindness that i actually felt like crying... in a good way! and the food is amazing!!! the fried green tomatoes are WAY better than my momma used to make. and don't even get me started on the hush puppies. two words!!! pulled pork it was my intention to write the best review that any business on yelp had ever received, but my words are failing me. so please, imagine that you are reading a review by gordon ramsay in which he proclaims it to be the best restaurant ever ran by the sweetest crew ever serving the tastiest morsels ever.

Ordered two po boys, excited to try some cajun food, but neither came with a side of fries like we expected. We asked the servers, who responded that it didn't come with a side, but then why would the menu state otherwise that it comes with a side option? Suuuper expensive food for just a fried sandwich. And it wasn't all that great. Fried ok but there was no flavor---which is the whole point for coming somewhere Cajun centered. The fountain drink flavors were all off (don't know if it was the tap or lack of syrup to compensate). Just altogether not a great experience. At least the servers weren't rude.
This was a very surprising find for me.
I ordered online one evening with 0 expectations and I was very pleasantly surprised. The fried chicken po boy is, in my opinion, absolutely delicious. I ordered the same sandwich the next day. That's how delicious lol. I've been ordering regularly since then. Happy to have this option in Santa Cruz!
Food was very salty and oily.
The po boy that cost $18 didn't come with any Cole slaw and fries like it said. The only thing going for them were the hush puppies.
