SOLA SOHO London Reviews from The Last Year
Gorgeous meal on a mild soho evening
Excellent meal full of flavour and texture in every bite. We opted for the Grand Tour menu which was a whopping 17 courses. My only criticism is towards dessert, palate fatigue started creeping in. Otherwise wine pairing was great and service was exceptional.
Birthday lunch
Amazing textures and flavours with every course ..the playfulness of the starters on traditional foods won me over from the start.. the chocolate and caviar dessert was absolutely divine ..definitely something I wouldn't have dreamed go together
Fantastic
Saturday night taste menu a attack on your senses with a very varied menu of Japanese influences which with a touch of usa the hush puppies mess with your mouth a stand out dish you just have try a whole dinner of this would and would make me happy can't complain at this experience for my first Michelin stared restaurant thank you to all the staff for their first class service they make the it special and happy to explain all the dishes and meeting the chef patron victor garvey a bit pricey for the evening but I will be talking about this for the rest of my life
Really Disappointing
A sad end to my SoLa experience. I've been coming to SoLa since it began and have always enjoyed the exciting dishes it offered. Sadly, after last nights meal in this newly refurbished restaurant with a now decidedly unpleasant aroma to it, I won't be returning again. It's pretty clear the prices are being hiked to eye watering levels: 20% service charge, £12 for a bottle of still water, £25 for four (you got five for that much in February) tiny slivers of forgettable cheese and not a wine by the glass under £30. I can accept a lot of things but the food would have to be stellar, it really wasn't sadly. I last came here in May 2023 and the main was Squab, and it was again last night. Seriously, there are other meats, but this time it was so pretentiously presented and lacking that I didn't know whether to eat it or laugh at it. It's a tasting menu I know, but I had Pigeon at Le Gavroche and Alex Dilling straight after last years meal here and they were light years ahead of the dish then, and this one now. The canapés have changed and they're individually presented with varying degrees of niceness. The rest of the tasting courses were good to not so. The signature Langoustine is still a spectacle and is great. The Sashimi was nice too and the Mayan Red dessert, but the rest, including bland cheeses, were not. The Devilled Egg, I don't recall having it before but it just tasted of egg, no kick or fire. The tasting menu is £139 for what is essentially five courses plus five canapés, optional Cheese course (that can be as high as £45 supplement) and petit four. Service was friendly with one mistake, but I wasn't charged for it; but that aroma that hits you when you walk in. It was lingering all through and was strange. It isn't pleasant and I almost left to begin with. The old layout had an open kitchen so it can't be that. Anyway, just one more reason I won't be returning. Apologies all, I know cost of living has made things tough but there is much better value and quality out there still compared to SoLa.
Top Quality Restaurant
I'd read lots of reviews for SoLa so I booked a table for lunch with my wife. The restaurant didn't disappoint, the food and service was fantastic, during the week you have a choice of either the tasting menu or a la carte, the tasting menu has a hefty price tag so we went for the a la carte, which is much better value for money. With the a la carte you still have 4 "snacks" before your starter, my wife and I chose different starters and mains, which gives you a bigger choice of dishes, I would recommend this approach. We also shared the lasagna as an extra course which was amazing. The star of the show was the squab pigeon, everything about it was amazing. I would strongly recommend SoLa if you want to try exceptional cooking. A few negative point but they didn't detract from our enjoyment, the position of the round tables mean you're either sitting on each others laps or you're sat at an angle. If you're sat near the kitchen it can be very hot, also if you're sat downstairs it's dark and lacks atmosphere. Service charge is 20%, which is a little steep as most restaurants charge 15%-17%.
top class
in a word, Sola is fantastic. we had the tasting menu and were frankly blown away by every single course. there wasn't a bad note in anything. presentation was exceptional and the staff were terrific. loved it. thank you
Thoroughly enjoyable and worth a visit
Unusual to find an California/fusion restaurant in London, and even more unusual to find one that does it so well. Really enjoyable experience, and the tasting menu (albeit pricey) definitely delivers. Impressed by the reasonably priced wine list as well. Great to see a Michelin-starred restaurant in London that doesn't simply copy the French haute cuisine model.
Fantastic cuisine, invest in staff presentation
Was a very interesting experience. The food and presentation of dishes was surprisingly outstanding. Delicate flavours, perfect combinations, we cannot eat pork and the kitchen was very flexible. The wine pairing was perfect and very original. However there is one major improvement needed - staff clothing, presentation. Whilst all well meaning the clothes need to be clean, no long fake nails, and one uniform look could help the perception of this restaurant a lot.
Outrageously priced for a meal
We have been looking forward to visit this restaurant since it reopened and we weren’t disappointed in the food. Chef Victor has a menu that it’s both innovative and elegant in its presentation. The setting is one of casual fine dining with a hit of elegance and simplicity. The front of house were excellent, knowledgeable and not too intrusive in their service at time. However I do have to knock off afew stars for a number of reason that if fixed would have warranted full marks. The overall experience felt rush, from the moment we were seated to the last course. No one offered us an option of a pre dinner cocktail or drink and review the menu before the first dishes were brought out after we opted for the pairing. It wasn’t as we had a time limit on the reservation. You had no time to reflect on the course just had before the next one arrived. Also, I take offence having items cleared from the table before we had even finish the entire course. We accepted the bottled sparkling water which was refilled once, but charged for 3. If we had know. The cost, £12 per bottle, we would have opted for tap water. The price point is outrageous, and should be advised of at the start . We only found out when the bill was presented. I also felt the pairing of 5 small glasses at a cost of £150 per person was disproportionate to the cost of the meal and outrageously priced. Useful tip, opt for wine by the glass or a bottle. Overall, we can only give this experience 3/5. As a 1 star, the bill of over £700 was not worth it.
Great flavours, high class dining at non exorbitant prices in the heart of Soho
First visit since the recent refurb and it won't be the last. We had the set menu which was a delight from start to finish. The 'snacks' to start are sublime and the flamed langoustine is a great piece of restaurant theatre to complement the flavours of the dish. I'd never heard of osmanthus but it proved to be a perfect addition to the sauce for my halibut, whilst my friend was full of praise for the squab, in particular the accompanying sauces. Neither of us are big fans of dessert courses unless they are top quality, which these certainly were, I loved the balsamic caramel sauce on the pear. Upon leaving, we we given a gift box of some rather lovely chocolates - a bit like a superior version of the party bag from kids' parties! £59 is very good value for a lunch of this quality, though note that there is a 20% service charge added, which is perhaps at the top end for the UK but wouldn't be thought unusual for international clientele. The service was top notch, and very much appreciated for Victor Garvey to come out into the restaurant & serve one of the courses. Overall, friendly atmosphere and first class cuisine. Take a look at their instagram to see what it's about.
Great food.
I picked as we want to experience the CA wine. The restaurant is an excellent location. I think they are still doing some refurb work. There is a distinct vinegar smell near the entrance of the restaurant. There is one toilet for the whole restaurant which oddly has no mirror. The tables are super closed together. Our table was wobbly as well. The restaurant did take our food preferences into consideration. We went for the wine pairing which the portion size of each wine is like 10 drops. The quality is also very disappointing. The desert wine didn't even come until we finished our desert and asked for it. The service can also be improved. For a table of 2, surely you can present the dishes to the diner at the same time. But nope. It was all out of sync. Then when they pour the sauce, some of the pour it from quite a height which caused a splash. Or they poured so much, that it overflow and drips out of the dish leaving quite a bit of mess on the white dinning table. At no point, anyone come and clean the bread crumbs on the table. The starter all designed to be eaten by hands. But no towels were offered at the table to clean your hands which again very odd. There is also a wine pairing for all the canapés which is basically impossible as some of the canapés were very light then finished on the suckling pig which is very flavoursome. All in all, I think the food is worth to come to visit. But not the service, not the wine. So perhaps some on the weekday when I don't feel like I am sitting with other strangers.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
