The Street Bar Boston Reviews from The Last Year
Excellent the best choice
Nothing I say here will truly do justice to the exceptional service at this hotel. The Newbury is undoubtedly the best choice for accommodation in Boston. The entire team is phenomenal, going above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect. The rooms are wonderful, clean and perfect. Excellent location. If you're in Boston, don't miss out. Thank you, Sigrid. Thank you, Wendy. Thank you, John Paul. Thank you TEAM!! Best, Deka
A great stay
Our room was very well kept. staff has been friendly and helpful. There was plenty of hot water unlike the four seasons where we stayed last year for the Marathon. The coffee, tea and pastries in the library were much appreciated as was the Monday morning runners breakfast. Overall it has been a lovely stay, we hope to return in the future.
Excellent Stay!
My husband & I stayed at the Newbury for the 2024 Boston Marathon. The room was very quiet & nice with a comfortable bed. The customer service is outstanding. All of the marathon festivities are walkable, including bus pick-up race-day morning. The only downside was there’s no bathtub. Not a star-reducer, but just know that if you’re looking for one, most rooms don’t have one. I was dying to take a post-race bath & had to settle for a shower instead.
Horrible staff that are so aggressive and spit at me
I don’t really like to write reviews but I think needs to be addressed all the staff is great except the unprofessional valet staff who work outside . They seem to think that they own the street . I was waiting for my elderly mother who can not walk far due to lung transplant I saw my mother coming out of contessa I parked car to the side in a empty space and was greated very aggressively by the staff outside and they bang d on my window so loud that I thought a car hit me from the back . When I asked him what’s the problem he greeted with move the f out of the way. How does a staff great someone this way . I thought I was . Again I was not blocking anyone and was picking my mother from the restaurant. He than started swearing very aggressively to me . I can’t rate you as a five star since the people who work outside are so rude and aggressive . As I drove away and my mother finally got in car I saw him spit at my car
This bar had a great gothic academic esthetic.
Great drinks and the beef pigs in a blanket were really good.
Nothing beats The Newbury
Best luxury hotel in Boston. The gym and views are fantastic as is the service. Beds are comfortable and turn down service excellent. Love the little library for morning coffee and reading. The location clearly cannot be beat as you can walk to any Boston neighborhood in under 30 minutes.
Timeless
This is an exquisite hotel not just because of the building itself but the staff is wonderful as well. The food and beverage along with accommodations and service cukture is above Satisfactory. I recommend anyone to stay at this hotel to experience luxury at its finest.
Fabulous stay in this luxurious hotel
Beautiful hotel in a premier location in Boston on Newbury Street across from the Public Garden. Our room was luxuriously appointed and the bathroom was gorgeous as well. We dined at Contessa, our favorite restaurant in Boston. Will definitely return.
Wonderful Hotel
This is a great hotel in a prime location in Boston. Located in the old Ritz Carlton building, it went through a massive refurbishment that has resulted in one of the best hotels in the Northeast. Staff are very efficient and very friendly The rooms are very nice and comfortable. A great experience.
Superior hotel in Boston!
An extraordinary hotel! Beautiful design, amazing accommodations and stellar staff. I am a frequent traveler and was impressed by every facet of this hotel. Perfect location right on the park and steps from shopping as well. This hotel is a gem. I’ll certainly be back!

This bar was cute, the drinks were good- but honestly very over priced. Drinks were $20+ and yes they were good- but they weren't mind blowing and nothing to highly recommend- especially not for that price.
A most excellent experience.
That mixologist really knows their stuff. My new Boston go to cocktail and brunch joint.
Upscale spot perfect for date night drinks and light bites.
Wagyu pigs in a blanket were delicious, oysters were strong as well. Waitstaff was pleasant enough, they did mix up my wine order but I was happy with the alternative wine.
No better hotel
This was hands down one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Everything from the location, to the cleanliness of the room and hotel, to the excellent staff and food was excellent. The gym was also the best gym I’ve ever used at a hotel. I can’t wait to take another trip just to stay here a few days.

This place used to be my favorite dinner and drink spot in Boston, that's until they decided to only allow patrons of the hotel to eat here. Very disappointing decision by the staff. Guess I'll have to find a new place to go.
Writing from the point of view of a Newbury hotel guest,
Writing from the point of view of a Newbury hotel guest, this place is a pure dissappointment. It looks nice, but you can't get in. Long lines, must have a reservation. Plus, the woman at reception is rude. I'm not trying to get into some swanky club, I'm trying to get into my hotel bar. And, I'd add, my very expensive hotel's bar and yes, at this price point, I expect to be able to get a drink in the hotel bar or lobby bar / equivalent. And you can't. Now offsetting this a tiny bit is "the library" a room adjacent to The Street where waiters from The Street can bring you food a drinks but with a different interior vibe and ugly, uncomfortable furniture. While the service was fine, the waiters were overworked and hard to find. The net: I don't like when my hotel decides to create a hot-for-locals bar and restaruant that optimizes its own P&L and not hotel guest experience. I won't stay at this hotel again (due to fire alarm issues as well) but in reality this place shouldn't even be listed as a "dining" option because you can't really use it. It's just a popular locals restaurant that happens to be in the building.

Friendly and attentive bartenders who put on a game at our request. Our drinks were accompanied by an assortment of nuts, olives and chips on the house. Fantastic oysters. Would absolutely pop in here again.
This place is utter garbage.
The staff is highly inattentive and non apologetic. We arrived at 4:30pm on a Sunday, where it was not busy. We waited 20 minutes at the entrance for the host to arrive, as he was not at his post. We were offered and requested water 3 times. Eventually put in an order for drinks and an appetizer. We were willing to order a second round of drinks and an entree, but waited an hour. The vibe is an upscale establishment, while the reality is that their food is underwhelming, and the staff are pretentious. We recommend spending your disposable income in a upscale bar that wants your service, and values it's customers.
Classy, bougie, swanky.
This is what you get when you hit the trifecta of amazing food, hand crafted cocktail and ambiance like you're in The Great Gatsby. The Street Bar is located on the....duh...street level of the Newbury Hotel. You know things are about to get classy up in this joint when you can literally have Breakfast at Tiffany's (there's a Tiffany's store literally across the hallway). The service was prompt, precise and proper. After entering, I took a seat at the bar and immediately I was greeted by the bartender with some bar snacks. As a former bartender, I maliciously read through each individual cocktail's ingredient and decided with the Daiquiri No. 33 cocktail. It was light, refreshing but yet packs a punch. I order crab cake as a snack and it was delicious, and realized that crab cake doesn't actually need fillers. It actually taste better when you have fresh crab with a crispy crust. After gulping down my cocktail, I was greeted by their bar director Eric. Rare to find a person to be able to speak intellectually about great wine and food. The bar serves also as the hotel bar, so it can get pack quickly. As I was having my conversation with Eric, the bar filled up with eager patrons needing their rose and martini's. Before coming here, I did read a few reviews about pricing. However, you are on Newbury and you are receiving one of the best service you can get in Boston. I would say that return on investment is worth every cent. I would highly recommend coming here for lunch, dinner or even an evening drink. It certainly has the classy vibe that I'm always looking for an amazing night out.
The drinks and service here are great, but I'm rating it
The drinks and service here are great, but I'm rating it low simply because the price. Over $20 for a cocktail is crazy. I understand because of the location but I wouldn't go back. There's plenty of amazing cocktail bars in Boston that are reasonably priced!
