Trattoria Il Panino Boston Reviews from The Last Year
Unauthorised charge
Food was fine but communication with bar staff was ‘difficult’. I tipped at the table but not at the bar (I had my reasons). On returning to the UK and checking my credit card statement I noticed that a tip had been retrospectively added to the bar bill. As I didn’t authorise this, could it be considered fraud?
I guess I should have read the reviews before I went.
But I was looking for Osso Buco and Il Panino had it on the menu, and the restaurant was highly ranked among Boston restaurants (I saw it somewhere? must have been a tourist guide) Anyway, off we go. I arrived without a reservation but was seated promptly. Restaurant was crowded and loud (the fact that it was off and on raining helped this I'm sure). Service staff was pretty attentive to almost over the top attentive at times (for example: I was eating some of their bread and using a small plate for oil...at least 4 times one of the "sharks" in the dining area (that's the only way I can describe their job) came by and pointed at and reached for my small plate because there wasn't anything on it. Another pet peeve: even in Italy, most servers speak a minimal amount of English. At Il Panino, the sharks act like they've never heard someone say "no" and they don't know what it means. Anyway, I digress. Out comes the osso buco, and it looks SO good. Deep dark gravy on the meat. But underneath the meat is the risotto. And I kid you not, it looked and tasted like Kraft Mac & Cheese. Completely overpowered the flavor of the meat. Just ruined it. Fortunately the waitress came over and asked how it was. And I told her. She spoke to the manager and said I could swap it out, no problem. So I got the gnocchi, and it was good. Certainly not over the top best I've ever had good, but it was good. Needless to say I left without dessert. All in all not a good experience but kudos to the staff for swapping out a horrid version of osso buco with something better. If I ever go back to Boston, I definitely would not return here.

Enjoyed my visit here.
They were kind enough to seat us earlier than our reservation time as they weren't as busy at lunch. We did sit for a while before a waiter came and asked if we wanted water or drinks, and as we were leaving I noticed other tables around us all seemed to get complimentary bread (we did not). I enjoyed the meatballs and the zucchini flower appetizers and I love that the pasta comes out on skillets for you to enjoy. I got the chicken parm and it was just ok. My mom got the arrabiata and it was delicious!
Mediocre food and service
Food was mediocre, had better Italian food at Olive Garden. Requested Tea but not available so ordered coke was charged for refill . Can of Diet Coke was $3.95 each so paid $12 for 2 drinks but charged for refill. Atmosphere was crowded and loud.
Obsessed with the pistacho martini and espresso martini.
Moms lasagna and the rest of the pastas are chefs kiss
Terrible maintenance and ok food
Went with my family Ona Saturday night and was met with a disappointment. I have been there several times in the past and now what I saw was a poorly maintained establishment where the windows were falling apart letting the cold weather get in and as for the food, I ordered the carbonara that was not that good. I give it a three because the service was good
Came recommended
Came here on recommendation the place was really busy and this is probably why the service was not the best. The food was excellent but from the moment they sit you at your table they want you out!! Never in my life have I only been halfway through my starter and they fetch the main course out, The Ossobuco was really good as was the rest of the food but unfortunately the service let them down. Wouldn’t return and will only recommend if you like speed dining.
Food tasted horrible.
The Boston Bibb salad was Bland and when I asked for more vinegrette, it never came. Our serves changed 3 different times with no explanation or reintroductions. They did let me get another meal to exchange with (calamari) but it was lightly fried and way too chewy to enjoy. Also, my water wasn't refilled and we didn't see our server for so long so my cup was empty for a good amount of time before being able to ask for a refill. Bread brought to our table was cold and the bathroom was so FILTHY. I felt terrified to relieve myself in there. I wouldn't come back tbh.
Good food but too busy
Busy restaurant food was good but the service was mixed. They brought the main course food out before clearing the table of the entree course so we were left trying to juggle plates to make room for the food. We ordered a bottle of wine and got 2 glasses of wine when we explained we wanted a bottle the guy just looked at us with a blank expression, no idea what to do. The restaurant is just a bit too focused on feeding you and getting you out the door.
Don't let them seat you downstairs! The place smells like
Don't let them seat you downstairs! The place smells like the bathroom. It may be quieter but you can smell through bathroom and it's unpleasant trying to eat there. I specifically put in my reservations I don't want to be seated downstairs and yet they sat us there.
Very disappointing meal
We won't return. When I order vongole in a new england restaurant, especially one a half mile from the ocean, I expect little neck clams, not tiny cockles from New Zealand. Little necks are brynier, meatier, more flavorful, fresher, and native to the area.....
4.5 bc Bolognese wasn't to die for but mushroom ravioli
4.5 bc Bolognese wasn't to die for but mushroom ravioli was.. very friendly staff. Pistachio martini is a must try
Definitely make a reservation in advance! We were delighted
Definitely make a reservation in advance! We were delighted to get one. The food is good. It is not life changing but we very much enjoyed it. The bread is excellent too. It is a very fast meal - the food came within 5 minutes of ordering and we ate at a peak period. I'd like a bit more of a leisurely meal for the price point but this is still one of the better options in North End We sat outside in the covered patio. It is very charming but does slope - so one of you will be eating leaning backwards.
Delicious.
Excellent pasta! Bustling small place. Service was efficient if not especially friendly. The food is the star attraction.
The food was amazing, we got the Cacio O Pepe and Lobster
The food was amazing, we got the Cacio O Pepe and Lobster Ravioli for entrees (ravioli was the best). The mussels were the largest I've ever seen, definitely worth trying. On the flip side, it was very loud downstairs, our server only stopped by a couple times, and the hostess wasn't very receptive/polite when we were responding to our "reservation is ready" text - hence the four stars.
I took a chance on this place and took my family here to
I took a chance on this place and took my family here to give them a north end experience and was really let down. As a former server myself, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt but our waitress was just not friendly at all which is something you cannot be as a server. She seemed annoyed whenever we asked for something and would simply not bring things when we asked. Bread was brought to our table but we had to ask multiple employees to get butter, oil or pepper flakes/parm to dip it in. The butter never came regardless of who we asked. Food: There are definitely better places in the area for authentic Italian. That being said, nothing tasted bad but just lacked flavor. I thought the portions were extremely small for the price. Typically, Italian places may skimp on the meat but go heavy on the pasta and they were conservative on both. My boyfriend and I were not that hungry so we had ordered chicken parm to share and we both had to fill up on bread to leave full. However, the sauce was good. The drinks: I ordered a red sangria which just tasted like lemon. Maybe they tried to put an Italian taste to it by using limoncello? Either way it was way too much and everyone at my table tried it, nobody liked it. My sister ordered a lemon drop martini and she didn't love it either. Ambiance: We had a reservation for 5 and we were sat in a stuffy corner, that's okay though because north end restaurants are always small. It was a little loud for our liking, hard to have conversation unless you are directly next to the person but the aesthetic of the restaurant was pretty. The bar was very long and the way they had the wine displayed gave boujie. Loved the look of the place. I think overall it was not a bad place but the staff needs to work on being more friendly (I never saw one person smile and they were not busy) and they could improve on portions and drink recipes. Personally, I would not go back when there are so many other great Italian places in the area.
Horrible! Stay away from this place ! Poor staff attitude !
Horrible! Stay away from this place ! Poor staff attitude ! Rushing you in and out tables cramped staff don't care ! Food mediocre at best ! Never again !!!
Food was good, but front staff was rude and entrees came too quickly
There were three young ladies at the door when we arrived. They were busy talking about something personal, which we found to be rude. We were seated, ordered drinks, appetizers and dinner. We weren’t even close being done with our appetizers and our entree arrived! The mussels we had were very good. The calamari was good but I’m sure it was pre-battered and frozen as there were no tentacles. The Cacio e pepe was delicious. Due to the rudeness of the ladies at the front and our entree coming out so quickly, making us feel rushed, I only gave it a 3 out of 5.
Delicious!
Excellent food! Hard to get a reservation, but now I understand why! Definitely want to book a table ahead of time. Service was quick and professional - had several different servers all with different jobs. Food came out quickly in decent portions, and it was all delicious with homemade sauces and pasta. Will definitely go back!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res

Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
