Boy, this place has a problem.
The food was good, the room is beautiful, but the service was completely unacceptable. Don't get me wrong, our waiter was nice and professional, but either they are severely understaffed, or the kitchen and bar simply can't keep up with the number of people in the restaurant. It took 40 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and over an hour for appetizers. They also made mistakes on the order. Several pieces are in place to make this a destination venue, but as it stands today, they are likely to turn off new visitors as they did with our party. The price point for our party of 6 was quite high at $300 per couple, no wine, just 2 rounds of drinks. The food is good, but just good. Not sure if we'll give it a second chance.
Be the first to ReplyWe dined here about a year ago.
when they first opened and loved it. Tonight , we dined here again with friends, actually celebrating two birthdays. I'm going to rate it 3.5 -4.0. Why? I still don't understand why I have to pay 15.00 for parking , then walk as far as we did to enter the restaurant. Makes no sense at all. and it's an automatic strike one. Upon entering , we were greeted warmly , and shown to our table. The hostess is charming ( Genesis) and couldn't have been nice. Our server Jade took our drink orders and we were off to a good evening, Jade assisted us in explaining certain dishes as well. I must say again she ( Jade) was terrific! Our appetizers arrived rather quickly which was good as we were hungry Dumplings, spare rubs that were delicious, and spring rolls served with lettuce which were also special. We then waited and waited and waited for our entrees This was strike two . A manager came to our table apologetic for the long wait, offered a drink to us ( complimentary) and then we waited some more. Our entrees finally arrived a beef dish and a shrimp dish , accompanied by a noodle dish. All were delicious , yet the wait was intolerable. The house lit a candle on a delicious brรปlรฉe desert ( for our birthdays) which was nice , yet at that point I was antsy and asked for a check. So,Le Colonial is the sexiest restaurant in town, bar none, with the nicest staff. It reeks of warmth and romance. The food is excellent , yet the service from the kitchen was horrible,m, I'm sad to say. . Bottom line is that they need to accommodate their customer in a less expensive way for parking, and the kitchen needs to catch up with the front. I sincerely hope they do both.
Be the first to ReplySo pretty and quaint.
Lovely outdoor area too but the bar is so nice. Usual drinks and full bar available

Went here for my boyfriend's birthday dinner and I was incredibly impressed. The fish was absolutely delightful and so was the dessert. I will definitely be eating here again. Love the decor, brought you back in time!

The small plate ribs appetizer is very tender and delicious, so is the Salmon and greens, Vietnamese coffee delish and the desserts really good choices. I tried the Vietnamese one and took Key Lime round tart home for later. Service was pretty good except for waited longer for dessert menu but nice atmosphere and near the beach for a nice walk afterwards.
Be the first to ReplyThe evening started with our reservation not under our name
The evening started with our reservation not under our name or phone number. When I showed the hostess our confirmation via phone, then she stated that they had mis-spelled our name. We had the 5:15 reservation and felt very rushed. We did state that this was our first time at Le Colonial, and asked about the menu, but was not advised that the large plates were a la carte. When our fish dishes (halibut and salmon) arrived, there was no rice, or anything other than fish and sauce, with scant amounts of bok choy/ red onions. We quickly ordered rice and that arrived promptly. At one point, when I placed my folk down, the server asked if I was finished, while I had food on my plate. My plate was cleared while my husband still continued with his dinner. I understand that the early reservations mean that the table will be needed. Both our table of two and another table of two were both cleared within an hour. The entire evening felt very rushed, which is not a fine dining experience. The food could be delicious if you are advised correctly regarding sides, appetizers, desserts, etc. Restaurant itself is beautiful.
Be the first to ReplyTo be honest this was pretty meh.
For the price point I would have expected more care in the food prep, cocktails were lackluster, etc. Service was good but that, and outdoor patio, was about the only redeeming aspect. Akira Back is way better at a similar price point. Would not come back.

Over priced restaurant, happy hour is minimal and egg roll quality is not what it used to be. The food is good but price is too high.

Fabulous Restaurant in Delray! My wife and I have been going to restaurants in Delray for a long time. There are certainly some excellent ones. But our visit to Le Coloniel last night was a blowout for their food, service and ambiance. We were given fabulous service and were attended by Santiago, the manager, and even received a visit from the incredibly talented chef. Of special note: the flayed Bronzino was cooked to perfection and had a great presentation. They even had vegan veggie rolls for my wife that were outstanding. The drinks, appetizers, and entrees, from start to finish, were just incredible; and it's one of the most romantic restaurants in the area--decorated with beautiful artwork, greenery and other objets d'art....I couldn't recommend it more!!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service and wonderful menu.
Very accommodating and friendly staff. Definitely recommend for a nice dinner out. We frequent the Delray location. The outside is lovely and doesn't feel like you're eating on the street it's decorated and well staffed. One of my favorites. .

Stopped in for an afternoon drink we fell in love with the ambiance, service fresh flowers and vibe; such a nice classy place we will be back for dinner !
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately, a less than optimal experience.
The front staff of the restaurant needs training!!! This can all be fixed. Six of us went for dinner last night. First of all, the decor is lovely, the food (chef) and drinks (bartender) were fantastic! Everything was flavorful and delicious - We ordered the tuna tartar, chicken dumplings and ravioli - each was big enough to share and they were all outstanding. Again, dinners were the shaking steak , the halibut and the the snapper for two. Now for the waitstaff: only one order of halibut arrived when 2 were ordered. The one that came was cold and had to go back. So of course one couple was waiting while the others had their meals. The snapper was supposed to be filleted tableside. We couldn't watch as it wasn't filleted by our seats. Too bad. The plate deliverers didn't know which seat ordered which dish so everything was placed at the wrong person. The filleted snapper was full of bones. When we mentioned this , the waiter said, "that is inevitable" No, it isn't. Then the plates were removed before the entire table finished their meals. We also had to hail down a staffer to get extra ice for drink after not the waited "forgot" to bring it. Staffers were everywhere basically falling over each other, but they clearly haven't been trained on the finer points of a first class dining experience. We will try them again in about a month to see if there is any improvement, because it is shame that the chef and bartender should get a review for a mediocre experience when the food and drinks were terrific. I hope this review is seen by management and heeded. We are foodies always looking for the next best thing.
Be the first to ReplyLe Colonial is one of my favorite restaurants as I love
Le Colonial is one of my favorite restaurants as I love going to the location in Chicago so I was so excited when this Delray location opened. Food is great and on par with the Chicago location. It's so new so I think they need time to fine tune their wait staff. They are attentive, but it could use some work. We had a great time otherwise!
Be the first to Replyfirst experience at this restaurant I know it was in New
first experience at this restaurant I know it was in New York, but I never had the opportunity to go. I must say it is done decoratively beautifully. It feels like you're in a really fine restaurant which it is !! I felt the prices were very fair the server Sophia was excellent she couldn't of been more helpful and informative from the time we checked in with the receptionist who is also very nice we enjoyed our evening We had the salad first. Le colonial large portion enough for two people or a entrรฉe, small plates, Che glo and ribs nice size portion, and excellent The halibut was really good with a little kick to it. also, bouillabaisse which was excellent. we try to desserts when was chocolate cake with ice cream and a Keylime cheesecake they were small portion, and I thought a bit pricey, good night outstanding the chocolate cake came with flaming water that made it really festive indoor outdoor seating. They have valet parking. This is a gem. I'm sure it's going to be hard to get into. As soon as the world gets around !!! Make your reservations ASAP.

The food was tasty and amazing! It is a little pricey but the quality was there and well worth it. We sat outside and the ambiance was great. Our server was attentive and top notch. We will be back soon!!! For those who say the other locations are better, it's ok to relocate and move back there!!!

I wandered in here alone not expecting to get to have a meal. The bar was packed. The hostess saw me looking around and offered me a cocktail table outside where they prefer you order off the small bites menu- perfect for me. The ceviche was excellent, but beware of the spice level- it was HOT! The chicken dumplings with black vinegar were very tasty and perfectly pan fried. The restaurant itself has a sexy, sophisticated vibe and the service was top notch. I will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyLe colonial has beautiful decor and atmosphere.
The food is exceptional, love the beef ravioli appetizer and the ribs. Hope they start carrying the duck soon! Daniel was our server and he was very knowledgeable about the menu and really gave a five star service!
Be the first to ReplyWhat a joke I went in with high end sandals.
Rainbows !!! They kicked me out and said only males can't Wear sandals.I mind you while I witnessed multiple spring breakers in ratty sneakers they would wear playing pick up Basketball. Beyond pathetic policy. Boycott!

New restaurants often have staffing issues so we were pleasantly surprised by what GREAT service we received. From the front desk to our server, Lee (who was in from the Atlanta location helping to train staff), our service was friendly, warm, courteous, and fast. But I'm getting ahead of myself, so let me start at the beginning. I booked a reservation via Open Table 5 days in advance for Friday night. The only reservation we were able to get was for 5 pm. Good for Le Colonial! It's great to see that they're off to such a good start in bringing people in the door. And that is for good reason. The interior is gorgeous! And I give them tremendous props for having the bar area separate from the main dining room. You can actually enjoy a dinner conversation even once the dining room fills up (and by the time we left, it was a full house). We decided to take the appetizer/small plate route so that we could try a few things. Our waiter Lee pointed out that they were not currently working off a full menu, while they work to get staff trained. That should be no problem at all as there was still plenty to choose from. Here is what we went with: - Goi Cuon/Chilled shrimp roll. You get a much bigger portion than you would expect. This comes with a side of peanut sauce which has a nice little kick to it. It is light and refreshing but for me, a little bland. If I were to order this again I would not hesitate to ask for an extra side of the peanut sauce, which was delicious (photo attached) - Sui Cao Chien/Pan Seared Chicken Dumplings. This comes in a black vinegar sauce. While the dumplings are pan-seared they are more crisp than greasy. Good, but not the best dumplings I've had. Again, this dish was just a bit bland to me.- Ca Song/Spicy Yellowfin Tuna Tartare. The menu says this dish is spicy. While there may have been some kick, it was mild at best. But the tuna, avocado, and sauce were fresh and refreshing. One of the better-seasoned dishes we had and I would definitely order it again. (photo attached) - Goi Ga/Vietnamese Chicken & Cabbage Salad. Very refreshing but again, a bit bland for me. The Grapefruit in the dish was really wonderful and we wished there were more of it.Overall, good enough that I'd love to go back and explore more of the menu. I would definitely make it a point to order dishes that based on the ingredients will have more seasoning. And I would not hesitate to head to the bar area for cocktails. Really one of the prettier options in the area.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful restaurant, but that's about it for now.
Hold off going 4-5 months until they fix their unrefined and uneducated waiters and their rude and crippling slow bartenders. The food was good, but super overrated and a little overpriced for French Vietnamese. Very disappointed for now.
Be the first to ReplyVery nice build out.
The food is very very average. I would compare it to Hello Fresh that you would cook at home. Sadly disappointed. Delray needed upscale restaurants but the food just doesn't equate to the ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyThe stars say it all.
....EXCEPTIONAL! Ambiance, service, food and drink are all combined into a comfortable and valued package that makes this new entry to our area a sure "keeper"! If you enjoy sharing, the menu is perfect; ditto if it's everyone ordering their own, you''ll not be disappointed!

Beautiful atmosphere and excellent drinks! Host/hostess area needs a little organization but I'm sure this is just 1st week challenges.
Be the first to ReplyI wanted so badly to love this place.
On a positive note, the interior is gorgeous, the bar is my favorite, beautiful patio area too. The service was amateurish, our waiter was nice and tried but had no real knowledge of the menu or proper service. The hostess sat us at a table and then came to inform us that our table was changed? It wasn't a big deal just odd and without explanation. As for the food, most dishes we had were good, with the exception of the spring roll with shrimp that was fishy. I hope they figure it out because I really want to like it.
